This is a fantastic walk taking in some beautiful scenary, paths and views.
Starting at the free car park at Parc Cwm Darran you can visit the café and facilities before taking the nice path around the lake and taking in the fantastic views down the valley and the forested slopes. During wetter weather you can take in a sizeable waterfall – that dries out in summer – before heading off the tarmac paths and up the valley side.
The paths here are fantastic with beautiful views eventually taking in the mountains of the Bannau Brycheniog. This route includes a little detour up to a CEN bench, which is in a fantastic location but sadly spoiled by masses of fly-tipping. The zig-zag paths back down are easy to follow and you then pick up another tarmac path that takes you back to the visitor centre. It really is a 10/10 walk and one of the best short walks in South Wales.
