The Miners

The Miners is a list of the best hills in South wales. This website provides you with a video walk of each hill and the full route via OutdoorActive, complete with parking spots and any relevant general guidance. There are currently 40 hills on The Miners list, however, it may expand over time. I still have to walk hills in Swansea and Neath and some of these might make The Miners list. I have walked over 300 hills and mountains in Wales, so when I am selecting the best hills from a county I am doing so having walked each hill and am choosing my personal favourites.

These hills will bring you amazing views, a variety of terrains, solitude, big skies and will allow you to know the South Wales Valleys in a way not possible in any other way.

I am counting counties 1-12 as South Wales, as I consider 13 and 22 to be more West Wales. I am including some hills from the very South of 15, but am trying to stick to level or South of the Central Brecon Beacons as a cut-off point. The focus is on the South Wales Valleys, the industrial heartland of Wales and the main areas of coal mining in Wales. There are some great hills in South Wales not on this list because they are outside of the industrial areas and sit more naturally in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The Hill List

I have ordered the hills by height, more hills will be added when I walk them – mainly in Neath Port Talbot and Swansea as these are the counties I need to complete.
