A 3.5 mile circular walk taking in an ancient gorge and some open countryside with broad views over the surrounding countryside down to Glastonbury Tor.
Parking is plentiful and free in a National Trust car park and the path is easy to follow. The first steps down are quite steep in places and whilst the next section is gentle the way up through the Gorge is a little rocky and steep in places. Once you are out of the Gorge the paths are gentle and grassy, well marked and a series of electric fences keep the cows at bay.
This is a really good short walk and there is a good information board by the car park that gives you a great overview of the history of the site. It is well worth doing if you are in the area and you could extend it by taking some of the numerous footpaths in the area – including some long distance trails that pass through the area.
Wells is worth a visit for a stroll, food and drink and if you do this walk the nearby The Tipsy Farmer is worth a visit for a nice pint.
