Garth Hill sits just north of Cardiff and can be walked from many different directions and the hill itself is riddled with circular paths offering various views across South Wales.
On a clear day you can look over all of Cardiff and the Bristol Channel with views over to Weston-Super-Mare looking South, and if you turn around and look North you’ll see Pen y Fan and surrounding peaks in the Brecon Beacons.
Some routes up are fairly gentle, others – like one of the routes up from Taff’s Well – are very steep in places. This is a hill that stands out and is visible from most nearby towns and villages, you can normally identify Garth Hill from the burial mound protruding clearly.
It is well worth the walk and is one of the best viewpoints in this part of South Wales.
