Despite being 781m Fan Foel is not a mountain – it is a subsidiary peak of nearby Fan Brycheiniog (802m) – but, as Fan Brycheiniog is classed as being in Powys, Fan Foel is the highest point in Carmarthenshire.
The walk over to Fan Foel is quite popular for walkers and photographers, the views from on top and below are really spectacular with the lakes adding extra interest.
You get good views of Fan Brycheiniog and back to Picws Du.
Fan Foel is well worth a visit, and if you are doing the mountains in the area then you will pass it anyway.
