Mynydd Meio can be walked from many different directions and could make a nice loop with Cefn Eglwysilan and Mynydd Eglwysilan – taking in some of the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway walk. However, this is a short and sharp up and down of less than a mile for those wanting a quick hill as they are short on time.
You can park along the grass side of the road – although a lot of building material has been dumped itermittingly on the verges greatly reducing your options. I parked next to the cattle grid, very close to the tracks up to the hill top.
The walk is easy to follow and steep for a short section – be wearing decent walking shoes / boots for grip. The summit is clear grass with an old fence collapsed near it, one post is still standing and is not too far from the highest point. The trig point is at the other end and is 1m lower, although it doesn’t really look it.
This very short track takes in both. Views, on a good day, would be worth the short walk.
