Parking at the edge of a housing estate there are many paths up through the woodland to the summit, although the summit doesn’t have a clear high point. Views are limited by the forest, however, this route takes you along the edge of an active quarry which opens up views of Cardiff and even has a raised metal viewing platform. This elevates the walk as the views are far-reaching and interesting. It also turns it into a good loop back to the car on largely different paths.
The hill is 179m high which gives you decent elevation above Cardiff and it is one of the highest point this far South. You could easily extend the walk in many different directions as the woodland is riddled with well-walked pathways. The summit itself shows how well-walked (and cycled) this hill is.
A nice little walk with a decent amount of ascent in a short space of time.
