Wentwood is a 309m hill that counts for both Newport and Monmouthshire, it is topped by an accessible trig point, but one without views as it is heavily wooded. Wentwood is a large forest with many paths cutting through it and multiple well-maintained and signposted parking areas for lots of cars.

A nice trig point, but shame about the lack of views. | Tamron Adaptall SP 24-48 @ 24mm, f11.

You can actually park much closer to the summit than I did on the route above as there is an unmarked car park directly on the route I walked as you cross the second road.

The path to the trig point is very narrow. | Tamron Adaptall SP 24-48 @ 24mm, f11.

The tracks are forest roads, so wide and gravel, flooded in places after heavy rain though. The trig point is off the main path and through a narrow and quite overgrown – during the summer anyway – but it is only a short way from the main path.

There are many trails through the forest, so you could easily make this a longer or shorter route. There are probably some places with decent views as well, as you can’t see a great deal from the trig point – it might be a better spot in winter.
