This is a pretty straightfoward walk until the last section, which involves a boggy track with plenty of flowing water after heavy rain, one fallen tree to skirt around and some crouch-walking through low trees in places.
This walk takes you to the trig point, which is around 3m lower than the true highpoint of this hill. However, it was chucking down with rain and the walk to the high point looked sodden, badly overgrown and full of ankle-turning lumps and bumps so I really didn’t see the point of finding that patch of grass.
Parking is at a nearby car park – complete with stone seats and BBQ stands – and you can follow a track down to the wide gravel forest road that you can follow easily until that final left turn takes you up the boggy track.
This takes you directly to the trig point, which sits in some grass but without any expansive views thanks to the forest. Views on the way to the hill top are good though, but probably not a hill I’ll ever return to.
