This 450m hill features a trig point and the foundation remains of a lookout tower that is still marked on OS maps. There are a few good spots to park in Abergwynfi to park.
There is a path up towards an old quarry, it is very steep in places so care is needed and good walking boots are recommended. Once you get up to the top above the quarry you can pick up a path that heads towards the summit. This path seems to fade away and then come back randomly, but the terrain is pretty gentle throughout anyway, so the path isn’t essential.
Beware of a few boggy areas though, as I couldn’t find any natural way around a couple of them so you just have to tread carefully.
Views as soon as you get onto the ridgeway are good, placing you quite centrally between a few big hills, some in Bridgend, some in NPT and a couple in RCT. The trig point is quite photogenic, as is the golden grass that covers a lot of the hill. There are sheep on the hill so that keeps the walk fairly easy, whether picking up sheep trails or generally walking on shorter grass.
You can walk back on a slightly different path giving you better views South and it is an easy stroll back to the car until you get to the steep part of descent. Due to loose rocks at times you do need to concentrate to make it down safely.
