Aran Fawddwy is the highest point of this 9 mountain walk and one of the definite highlights of the routes. Not only is it dramatic on the approach, it is also topped by a large cairn complete with trig point, offering great views in every direction. It also marks the start of a great ridgeway walk across to the next summit on the route.

You approach via Drysgol, which does not have enough prominence to qualify as a mountain. | Tamron Adaptall SP 24-48 @ 24mm, f11.

This is definitely one of the best mountains I have done so far, and it was was the busiest part of the walk with several parties of walkers summiting in the time we spent there. Because the summit is rocky it offers lots of places to sit for a snack, and plenty of places to shelter from the wind as well.

One of the most photographic mountains I’ve visited so far, I could come back to catch it with better skies and light and happily snap away again. A fantastic high on a great walk, made the effort worth it.
