A nice nature trail through extensive woodlands with lots of wood carvings and some great viewpoints.

Fforest-fawr
One of the many carvings.

There is quite good parking here, but it can get busy as it is a popular spot and close to Cardiff. You could also park at Castle Coch and walk up into this woodland if you wanted and you could extend this short walk in many other directions.

Fforest-fawr
A hiding hole.

We followed the main track seeing lots of wood carvings along the way and headed towards the viewpoint marked on the information sign at the carpark. It is worth taking a photo of this on your phone to follow the multiple trails open to you. You can also download a PDF map of the trails here.

We did this with the pram and the route was fine, but on the downhill part the track we took was quite rough in  places, so you could return on the main forest train to avoid this.

Fforest-fawr
Lots of wild garlic in spring.

This is a good place to walk with the kids as there is plenty to see along the way and there are plenty of trails to pick from should you want to have a shorter or longer route.
