A short walk from Trago Mills carpark to the 457m summit of Mynydd Aberdar, a lovely hill with stunning views of the Brecon Beacons mountains.
I parked at Trago Mills because my partner was taking the kids to soft play, as private land you need to check on how long you can park for and when gates are locked etc. You could otherwise try street parking or even park nearer the summit at the end of the road.
The walk is not too long, but has sections of fairly steep ascent and most of the walk is on tarmac roads / pavement. You need to hop a gate to get to the access land that covers the summit, so you’re not trespassing to access the trigpoint.
It’s a good hill for views, even if the walk up isn’t particularly scenic. You’ll enjoy wide views of the Brecon Beacon mountains from the Black Mountain in the West through to the Central Beacon Beacons and East to the Sugarloaf.
