Mynydd Bedwellte: The Heart of the Valleys

YouTube player

A short walk to the summit of Mynydd Bedwellte, a 486m hill in Blaenau Gwent. Parking is at a small pond near Cefn Golau and the car does most of the ascent so the walk is easy. The summit is topped by a trig point and a small wooden bench. The hill has extensive views of the Heads of the Valleys and the central Brecon Beacons mountains.

Starting at the small pond you cross the road and follow the track which will take you all the way to the summit. You will see several different variations of route you can take, but all of them are on smooth, short grass although parts of the track are eroded by dirt / quad bikes so can be muddy and have pools of water after rain.

The walk is easy with only two real – and short – sections of ascent.
