A peaceful forest walk on good tracks and occasional wider views across the valley.
You can park just before the cattle grid where there is room for a few cars and there is also parking a bit further on as well.
The walk starts by heading down a wide gravel road, lined by old trees with good views across fields and towards the woodland.
Following this track for a while you then take a right, along a narrower track which takes you to the edge of the forest where another right takes you into the forest. The trail is well signposted with a ‘Sirhowy Valley Community Woodland’ metal sign at the entrance.
You can follow this path around in a loop, picking up a large forest track as you head back. As you can see from the route plan, you could cut back earlier than I did to complete the loop, or you can continue on and cut back later on.
The paths are nice and the stiles are well maintained when needed, with clear directions through any fields. The final stile brings you back to the first lane where you can retrace your steps back to the parking spot.
This is a very peaceful walk and occasionally you get wide views up and down the valley when the trees open up. The track can be a little muddy in places, so be warned that it could be a bit messy after heavy rain.
